Codes here are generated at error-correction level H — the highest — so they still scan if part of the code is damaged or covered by a logo. If the code points at your own site, check that your SSL certificate is valid first — a scan that lands on a security warning drives people away.

Does the QR code ever expire?
No. The code generated here is static — the information itself is encoded in the squares rather than routed through our server. It will keep working forever, even if this site disappears tomorrow, and nobody tracks the scans. The "dynamic" codes other services sell go through an intermediary server, which is why they stop working the moment you stop paying.
How large should I print a QR code?
Rule of thumb: the code should be at least one tenth of the distance it will be scanned from. Two centimetres is enough on a business card, three to four on a flyer, and a sign scanned from a metre and a half away needs about fifteen. Always download at 512 pixels or more — scaling a small file up creates fuzzy edges that cameras struggle to read.
Why will my code not scan?
Three common causes: too little contrast between the code and its background, no white margin around it, or a code too small for the scanning distance. The code must be dark on light, never inverted. Leave at least four squares of white margin, and never place a code over a busy photograph.
Can I put a logo in the middle?
Yes, carefully. Codes here are generated at error-correction level H, the highest, which can reconstruct up to about 30% of the code. A logo covering up to roughly 20% of the centre is usually safe — but always test-scan with two different phones before printing a thousand copies.
How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?
The code encodes the network name, password and encryption type in a standard-format string. Android and iOS recognise it and offer one-tap connection without typing a password. Note that the password is readable by anyone who decodes the image, so this suits a guest network rather than your private one.
What is the difference between the content types?
A URL opens a browser, a phone number opens the dialler, free text is simply displayed on screen, and Wi-Fi offers to connect. The only difference is the prefix added to the encoded string — the code itself looks identical.
